Our Story
Built Around the Idea That Direction Matters More Than Speed
Reckonly was founded to give Malaysians a calm, non-pressured space to think carefully about where they want to go — financially and otherwise.

How Reckonly Came to Be
Reckonly grew out of a simple frustration: most money conversations in Malaysia start with products or portfolios rather than with you — your situation, your values, your actual goals. The founders, having worked in education and personal development, noticed that many people felt anxious about money not because they lacked information, but because they had never had the space to think clearly about what they were working toward.
The practice opened its doors in Puchong Jaya with a clear boundary: we coach on goal-setting and reflection only. We are not licensed financial advisors and we don't pretend to be. What we do — helping people articulate goals, map milestones, and build steady review habits — sits firmly in the territory of education and personal coaching.
Today, Reckonly serves individuals across the Klang Valley who want to approach their financial lives with more intention and less noise. Sessions are offered in English, and the pace is always set by the person in front of us.
Our Mission
To give every person who walks in — or logs on — a clear-headed space to name what they want financially, build a personal milestone path, and leave with something tangible they can act on and revisit over time.
Our Values
- Direction over speed — Thoughtful, steady movement beats reactive rushing.
- Honest boundaries — We stay in our lane. Coaching, not advice.
- Respect for the individual — Every person's goals are their own. We support, not prescribe.
- Incremental progress — Milestones matter more than destinations. Small steps compound.
The People
Who You'll Be Working With
A small, careful team — coaches and facilitators who take the responsibility of this work seriously.
Suraya Lim
Lead Coach & Founder
Suraya has spent over a decade in adult education and facilitation. She created Reckonly to bring structure and calm to a space that too often runs on anxiety.
Rizwan Azmi
Goal-Setting Facilitator
Rizwan leads the four-week coaching track and group facilitation. His background in behavioural design shapes how the milestone structure is built.
Yee Ning Tan
Programme Coordinator
Yee Ning handles onboarding, scheduling and the workbook content. She makes sure each participant's experience is smooth from first enquiry to final session.
Our Standards
How We Hold Ourselves Accountable
These aren't aspirations on a wall — they're commitments we review after every programme cycle.
Clear Scope of Practice
All coaches at Reckonly operate strictly within coaching and education. No regulated financial advice is given at any point. This boundary is non-negotiable.
Participant Confidentiality
Everything shared in a session stays in the session. Peer circle conversations are held to the same standard. We take trust seriously.
Written Programme Outlines
Every programme has a written outline shared before the first session. Participants know exactly what is and isn't included before they commit.
Post-Programme Review
We collect feedback after every programme and use it to refine content, pacing and facilitation. Improvement is ongoing, not a launch-and-leave model.
Data Protection (PDPA)
Participant data is handled in accordance with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010. We collect only what we need and do not sell or share personal details.
Ongoing Facilitator Development
Our coaches attend regular professional development workshops in coaching methodology, facilitation and adult learning practice to maintain the quality of every session.
Goal-Setting Coaching in the Klang Valley
Reckonly operates from Puchong Jaya, Selangor, and serves participants across Kuala Lumpur, Subang, Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya and surrounding areas — with video options available throughout Malaysia. Our work sits at the intersection of personal development, structured reflection and practical planning.
Goal-setting coaching is distinct from financial planning or investment advice. Where a licensed planner works with specific products and regulated recommendations, a goal-setting coach works with the thinking layer beneath those decisions: what do you actually want, how does it connect to your daily habits, and what would a meaningful milestone look like in six months or two years?
This kind of work is appropriate for people who feel they are going through the financial motions without a clear sense of direction. It's also useful for those who have plans in place but haven't paused to ask whether those plans are still aligned with what they value. Our programmes are designed to be re-entered over time — as your circumstances change, so do your goals, and we're built to support that ongoing process.
